May 1, 2020

Dear Parent,

First, let me say how much I appreciate all the support shown to our district during this unprecedented time.  I am so proud of the response from our students and parents over the past several weeks.  I also want to brag on our staff members who have gone above expectations to see that students had meals, virtual instruction, and support.  Apple Springs ISD is truly blessed.

Please allow me to share several pieces of important information.

  • This school year will officially end May 22.  Please remind students that all take home assignments must be turned in electronically to their teacher(s) prior to this date.
  • Student meal service will end May 21.
  • As soon as legally possible, we will assign times when students may come and retrieve personal belongings.  Please do not come on campus prior to receiving this notice.
  • Due to the adjustments necessitated by the pandemic, we plan to promote all students to the next grade level unless a parent requests retention.  If you feel that your child is not ready for the next grade level, please contact our Principal, Kevin Plotts.  All retention requests will be determined on an individual basis.
  • Currently, we are still planning to begin the next school year on August 20.  Keep in mind this is subject to change depending on the status of the pandemic.
  • ASISD has already made contingency plans to spend the first several weeks of the 2020-2021 school year in review of concepts missed due to the coronavirus before introducing new material.  We are dedicated to bridging any instructional gaps caused by the mandatory school closing.

Let me encourage everyone to approach the summer with caution.  Even as more businesses are allowed to open, the best preventative against COVID-19 is to stay home and practice strict social distancing.  We have already invested so much of ourselves in this medical war.  Let’s not let those efforts be in vain by moving too quickly.  The last thing we want is to come back to school only to be forced to close again because of another outbreak.

I wish you and your family health, safety and happiness.  If I can be of service in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

God Bless,

Cody Moree
