OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

COVID-19 Update

April 17, 2020

In compliance with Governor Abbot’s latest executive order, Apple Springs ISD will keep all campuses and facilities closed for the remainder of 2019-2020 school year.

Even though our buildings remain closed, Apple Springs ISD remains dedicated to the following core services.

Relevant, Challenging Learn-at-Home Virtual Instruction

Our teachers continue to work remotely so that students will have access to a variety of learning opportunities and activities.  The faculty will modify and refine our remote instruction in the weeks ahead to make the process more accessible and user-friendly.  We appreciate your patience as we learn and adapt in this new format and we commend each parent, grandparent, and family member who are taking time each day to assist students through this process.

Student Meal Service

As long as the response for student meals remains high and our families take advantage of this service, ASISD will offer free student meals each Monday and Thursday from 4:30pm-6:30pm through May 28, 2020.

Class of 2020 Commencement Exercises

High School Graduation is the single most significant activity in all of public education.  The Eagle Class of 2020 is comprised of outstanding young people of whom we are very proud.  ASISD is committed to holding a modified commencement ceremony just as soon as it is both legal and safe to do so.  Seniors and their parents will receive updates as they become available.

Doing Our Best for Each and Every Student

Families can rest assured that the academic progress of our students will not be impeded by this unique situation.  We are already at work in planning to use the first portion of the 2020-2021 school year to assess each student, implement strategies to account for missed instruction, and make sure that students are ready to proceed before ever introducing new academic material.

It is apparent that the Apple Springs community has made a concerted effort to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible during this difficult period.  We at the school, want to express our sincere appreciation to all of the extended Eagle Family for the patience, understanding, cooperation, support and encouragement shown to us as we work together during this crisis.  We must all continue to be dedicated to these efforts a little while longer.

As always, if you need us, we are only a phone call or email away.  Thank you for the privilege of serving the incredible kids and their families of Apple Springs ISD.

God Bless,

Cody Moree, Superintendent of Schools
