Texas Way Doc

Dear Eagle Nation,

Let me introduce you to a new movement.  It’s called The Texas Way.  It is an initiative created by the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Association of Athletic Directors.   It has the full support of the UIL and Apple Springs ISD.

The whole purpose of The Texas Way is to promote a return to sportsmanship as a core value of interscholastic athletics.  Without the concepts of hard work, fair play and respect for others, athletics has no place in the school curriculum.  Athletics is an amazing vehicle to teach life-long concepts to our children.  We as adults must do our part as well.  It’s really pretty easy.

Come to each and every Eagle event possible.  Be loud, but also be positive.  Cheer for our students but never speak negatively about, not only our players, but about our opponents, the coaches and the officials as well.  Have respect for referees, umpires and officials, even when you disagree with their decisions.  Our young people desperately need to see this type of positive behavior, especially in the face of adversity, modeled for them.  We can all make that happen!

Let’s let the state of Texas know that the Eagle Nation is the very best.  We love and support our students unconditionally and, we will demonstrate class, respect and integrity each and every time we cheer the Eagles on to victory!

God Bless,

Coach Moree
