Apple Springs ISD Names Kevin Plotts Interim Superintendent
APPLE SPRINGS, Texas — The Apple Springs ISD Board of Trustees has appointed Kevin Plotts as Interim Superintendent following the announcement that Superintendent Cody Moree will retire at the end of December.
Plotts, currently in his 11th year as principal of Apple Springs ISD, brings extensive experience in education and administration. A graduate of the University of Houston–Clear Lake with a B.B.A. and the University of Texas at Tyler with a master’s in educational administration, Plotts previously served as a teacher, assistant principal, and school leader in the Lufkin area before joining Apple Springs in 2015.
“Apple Springs has an incredible staff and amazing students. My philosophy has always been that my job as a leader is to provide the support and empowerment for these good folks to do what they do best. I look forward to finding new ways to give our staff and students the tools they need to succeed,” Plotts said.
School Board President Amanda Roden praised Plotts’ long-standing commitment to the district, stating: “Kevin has been a critical part of the Apple Springs family for many years. His steady leadership, dedication, and deep understanding of our district make him the right person to guide us through this important transition. We are grateful for his willingness to step in and bridge the gap as we move toward selecting a permanent superintendent.”
The Board expressed appreciation for Dr. Moree’s years of service and noted that it is actively developing a long-term plan for hiring a permanent superintendent.
